TVS’s mission is to provide quality employment, job training and residential & community services which serve to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment.
Cermount evolved from Transylvania Vocational Services (TVS) located in Western North Carolina. TVS began in 1967 dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. In the beginning, TVS served solely as a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. Since then, TVS grew into a dry food and beverage manufacturing facility expanding into supplements and functional food and beverages.
In 2000, TVS began packaging Instant Non-Fat Dry Milk (INDM) for the USDA. This business relationship along with TVS’s R&D allowed for us to help reformulate SuperCereal Plus for USAID. Additionally, TVS began producing multiple bakery mixes and other items for DLA Troop Support.
SuperCereal Plus is a fortified food source for children 6-24 months that when prepared with clean water, complements the nutrition received from their mother’s breast milk. The World Food Programme distributes SuperCereal Plus worldwide!
Through the AbilityOne program, TVS was able to secure additional government contracts. This allowed us to expand the Mountain Maid line to include baking mixes and packaged nuts that are currently supporting the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support. Mountain Maid line has grown to over 20 items!
We are honored and privileged to be manufacturing and packaging food that supports our nation’s troops worldwide, feeds hungry children in food insecure nations and supports Americans facing food insecurities in our communities.
Today, we are a multi-qualified, multi-certified food and dietary supplements manufacturer that serves not only government agencies, but dozens of consumer products companies as well.
